With new construction brings new opportunities to upgrade the network. We installed a new access rack that took care of all the new users in the area but also upgraded some legacy CAT5 (or older) of some older runs to use CAT6 cables. While we were running cables we also ran new coax cables replacing some cables that didn’t appear to be even for TV (smaller than usual).
The rack consisted of 2x 48 port CAT6 patch panels, 1x 12 port CAT5e phone patch panel and a 4 port coax splitter driving most of the building. It included a 48 port AdTran switch with a 2.5 GigE uplink to the core.
